Noboa Wagyu

Welcome to

Noboa Wagyu

Our Company

Ecuadorian.

Full Blood Wagyu since 2015.

At Noboa Wagyu we are dedicated to the integral development of the Wagyu breed in Ecuador. We are Ecuadorians, and this led us to think that in our beautiful country, a land of biodiversity, endowed with climates and environments as diverse and unique, it would be a great opportunity (and challenge) to introduce Wagyu, develop it, and export it to the world with an unbeatable quality.

Why not? Dreamers? Yes! Entrepreneurs? Absolutely! We are aware that we are not known as a beef producing country, but we are even more aware of the richness of our land, our climate, and above all, what we can achieve if we set our minds to it!

Noboa Wagyu

Our Project

Unique in Ecuador and the World.

Wagyu adapted to extreme environments.

After several feasibility and workability studies that lead up to our project launch, in 2015 we decided to import more than 2000 embryos and implant them in bovine recipients of native breeds already adapted to the area of Engabao-Playas, in the Province of Guayas. It was there that the first pure-blood animals were born, demonstrating an excellent adaptation to the climate and characteristics of the place. Once these first-generation cattle were weaned, we began to move them to our various farms in different regions of the country.

For six years we have been lobbying selection with this methodology, in order to learn which animals (from the different genetic lines of Wagyu introduced) were best adapted – in terms of health and development – to each geographical area. These selections were directed by related characteristics, by the breed’s functional aptitudes, and by bloodlines.

Likewise, we considered the tenants of natural selection that the environment factored in on these animals: the great diversity of climate and geography, as well as pests, have exerted a strong selection adaptation.

Currently, we have an important pool of animals adapted for each region:

·  At sea level, arid area, intense suns during the day and low temperatures at night.
·  At 8 m.a.s.l, 2500 mm of annual precipitation, 26 °C, 86% RH. High incidence of insects.
·  At 320 m.a.s.l, 2800 mm of annual precipitation, 24 °C, 90% RH. Average incidence of insects.
·  At 2860 m.a.s.l, 500 mm annual precipitation, 14 °C, 53% RH. Incidence of altitude sickness syndrome.

In this way, today we have the possibility of exporting to the world purebred and full blood Wagyu Embryos adapted to different environments. Embryos that we proudly produce in our laboratory - built and equipped under the most demanding international standards.

Our Genetics

We offer Full Blood Wagyu embryos from the best genetic lines:

- Tajiri or Tajima.
- Fujiyoshi or Shimame.
- Tottori or Kedaka.

Among many of the parents of our genetics, the following stand out:

        - World K´s  Shigeshigetani,

       - TF Itomichi 1/2;

       - Hirashigetayasu J2351;

       - World K´s Kitaguni JR;

       - World K´s  Haruki II;

       - World K´s Michifuku;

       - World K´s Sanjirou;

       - World K´s Kitaguni JR;

       - LMR RMW Itomoritaka JR;

       - Mitsuhikokura 149;

To achieve Wagyu meat production lines with high marbling - the most desirable attribute of the breed - both for crossbreeding programs or fullblood herds, we focused on a basic selection criterion, based on four fundamental points: fertility, longevity, adaptability, and conversion efficiency.

Our donors with  Tajiri or Tajima blood, stand out with larger forequarters, and slighter hindquarters. Although they have a smaller physical structure and their growth rates are slower, they produce meat of excellent quality, and a marbling superior to any breed in the world. This genetic line is ideal for crossbreeding programs with other breeds. The Tajima line is considered to produce the best quality meat worldwide.

In our genetic portfolio we also have Fujiyoshi or Shimane lines, lines that stand out for their average growth rate and good meat quality.

Finally, we have the Tottori or Kedaka   lines, which correspond to larger animals, with straight and strong backs and that, in general, respond with good growth rates. Although this line’s marbling is variable, the cows have very good maternal skills suitable to dairy capacity.

At Noboa Wagyu, only the best proven genetics are preserved for reproduction.
